All the grade 7 boys at Hartmann House are expected to lead all the other boys in some way or the other in their final year at the school. To that end at the beginning of the year boys are sent to Far and Wide for leadership training. This year the boys went on the 20th to the 24th of January.
This year’s course was made up of a 20km hike, skywalk on the Mtarazi falls, Forest games, Confidence course, team building exercises and the daily Polar plunge. The boys performed exceptionally well as they managed to carry out all the activities satisfactorily. A number of boys showed maturity and good leadership skills. We were happy with all the boys’ performance and ability to keep going when the long hike was taxing to the body.
Another feature of this year’s groups was their ability to keep litter to the minimum. Their cabins were neat and tidy most of the time. We would like thank Mr Craig and the staff at Far and Wide for the work they did with the Hartmann House boys.
